Because we can immediately recognize what paint is ... When studying a textured or smooth painted surface ... Because we know it when we see it ... some amount of sweet and lovely mystery is not there anymore ... in that experience or encounter. Because we know almost everything about the method and medium used ... there isn't enough surprise factor and intrigue ... with wonder ... to transport us to a place we have never been before or seems like it. This important place can be filled with a host of rich meanings or symbolize a profound close to home or foreign event ... with all its grit and stains.
