Brrd Roots ~ Allegorical and Spiritual Art of Storytelling

Words / 2025 Variety

Life is chaos—
a kaleidoscope of detours, fleeting clarity,
and questions that tug at the soul.
Amira isn’t polished, isn’t a hero,
just someone fumbling toward answers.

“The Well of Truth,” they call it,
the legend tossed between whispers and skeptics.
“Ask it how to cook dinner,” they laugh,
but she isn’t here for their cynicism.

Her journey begins with stars overhead,
the river’s song beckoning her forward.
No dragons, no monsters, just life:
a tide that refuses to budge,
a forest steeped in silence,
a mountain that demands every inch of resolve.

She stumbles, curses the rocks,
questions every step she’s taken.
And when she finds the Well,
its waters sit still, silent,
offering no answers but her own reflection.
Disappointed, she walks away.

---

Back home, the unremarkable well
behind her house shimmers under sunlight.
Ripples tremble across its surface,
ordinary yet profound—
a quiet understanding blooms.
The Well wasn’t distant; it was here,
always waiting, always home.
Wisdom buried in simplicity,
treasures in places dismissed.

---

Before her journey began,
the elder gave her a gift:
a pocket watch, rusted, unmoving.
“Carry this,” he said, “and when it ticks,
you’ll find your answer.”

Through tides, forests, mountains,
the watch mocked her, silent as the Well.
And yet when she dips it into her ordinary well,
it ticks—not from magic,
but from change within herself.
Time, relentless yet gentle,
offers mercy in its silence.

---

Her story unfolds imperfectly.
She screams at the river,
throws stones into the void.
Her legs falter on the climb,
her mind fractures with doubt.
“Why,” she cries, “did I think
I could do this?”

It’s messy, human, vulnerable.
But struggle doesn’t invalidate growth;
it nourishes it, deepens it.

---

She laughs at the absurdity of it all:
The tide, mocking her patience—
“This water has an attitude problem.”
The forest, lost and hungry—
“Shadowy Void, five miles.
Despair: Free Admission.”
The mountain, relentless—
“Spiritual growth? Or just
a terrible marketing scheme?”

Even existential dread,
Monty Python would agree,
can be hilarious when framed just right.

---

Moonlight turns the river’s tide to silver.
Branches whisper like secrets.
Clouds crown the mountain’s peak
with quiet majesty.
The Well, luminous under her roof,
reflects truths she dared not face.
Mystical, ethereal, more felt than spoken,
wisdom lives in still waters.

---

Amira learns ethical grace.
Slow down, the river urges.
Adapt, the forest teaches.
Confront discomfort, the mountain demands.
She comes home wiser—
humbled, patient, grateful.
The lessons guide her moral compass,
unspoken yet vivid.

---

Her journey lingers not as a quest
but as a reminder that truth isn’t out there.
It’s waiting within ripples,
quiet reflections of who we are
and what we’ve dismissed.

(Holy Spirit)
“May the paths we walk,
whether they wind through rivers or forests,
guide us back to the wells within.
And may mercy and humor carry us there.”
