Hard Light
(Melancholy Chanson)
---
Steel remembers what we forget
Liquid heroin once ... poured into shape
On an Orange Sky afternoon
Someone drew the bars
*The guards couldn't see the miracle
The guards couldn't see*
Sometimes wolves need walls
To hold what got woke up
Rampling has a number now
Where his name was sewn
*The guards couldn't see the miracle
The guards couldn't see*
Light has no memory at all
Doesn't know where it came from
Doesn't know where it goes
Only passes through
*The guards couldn't see the miracle
The guards couldn't see*
He didn't pass through the light
The light passed through him
Maybe it was always there
Inside the steel ... waiting
*The guards couldn't see the miracle
The guards couldn't see*
The body was a prison too
Bones as bars ... skin as walls
Difficult light ... light that isn't easy
Still ... it comes
*The guards couldn't see the miracle
The guards couldn't see*
The guards couldn't see
