THE SECRET MANUAL OF GOLDEN TRANSMUTATION
A Craftworker's Forbidden Guide to the Amber Arts
Found beneath the floorboards of an abandoned Beth Midrash, wrapped in pages torn from anarchist
manifestos and children's Hebrew primers. Translated from a mixture of French profanity, mystical Hebrew,
and what appears to be the frustrated scribblings of an eight-year-old sage.
FIRST TEACHING: The Window of Perception
Before you begin any work, you must prepare The Window. Not any window—THE Window. It must be
dirty with the fingerprints of children (both innocent and corrupted), smeared with tears and snot,
marked by the kicks of Doc Martens.
Materials Required:
Gold leaf (or piss-yellow paint, depending on your level of disillusionment)
Azure fragments (or police-light blue, for the truly awakened)
One (1) bent paperclip
The spit of an angry child
Black markers (stolen preferred)
The Four States of Viewing:
1. The Mystical Gaze: Press palms against the glass until you see letters dancing. The gold must appear
as divine light, like trying to hold sunlight in small hands.
2. The Observant Stare: Let your nose run. Scratch old scabs. Notice how the gold looks like medicine-
yellow, how the blue resembles bruises under concealer.
3. The Broken Glare: Spit on the window. Kick it. The gold becomes metro-wall piss stains. This is also
truth.
4. The Anarchist Vision: Draw your symbols over everything. Ni Dieu, ni maître. The gold spreads
beneath like sewer veins. C'est normal.
SECOND TEACHING: The Cascading Streams Technique
To create the vertical rivers of amber light:
Sacred Method (for beginners):
1. Whisper: "Hashem painted the world with letters before colors"
2. Apply gold in downward strokes while thinking of Torah scrolls
3. Each stream must pulse with creation's heartbeat
4. Add blue fragments like pieces of firmament fallen to earth
Profane Method (for the initiated):
1. Scream: "VA TE FAIRE FOUTRE!"
2. Splash piss-yellow paint while remembering every humiliation
3. Each stream represents another way the universe fucks you
4. Blue spots are bruises—apply accordingly
The Hidden Third Method:
Mix both. The sacred and profane are the same gold.
THIRD TEACHING: The Root Structure
Beneath all surfaces lies The Network—what young craftworkers call "the roots of the Tree of Life" and
older ones recognize as "varicose veins of a dying god."
To Reveal the Roots:
1. In Innocence: Trace patterns on fogged glass. See how cool shadows spread beneath warm gold.
Whisper about creatures sleeping in dark spaces.
2. In Knowledge: Notice the ceiling cracks above your bed. Realize the roots look tired, like forgotten
houseplants.
3. In Anger: Recognize them as anarchist symbols, as the underground network where all pretensions
flow avec yesterday's hummus.
The Secret:
The roots spread regardless of your perspective. Beautiful and terrible and absolutely without mercy. Comme
toujours.
FOURTH TEACHING: The Central Mandala
At the heart of every work must be The Dark Bloom—cruciform but not Christian, Oriental but not
Eastern, a paradox that burns without consuming.
Construction:
Begin with shadow (the black fire behind white fire)
Ring with ochre and umber
It must simultaneously be:
A rose window in a Gothic cathedral
The burning bush
A tap root into pre-linguistic mystery
The space where Papa sleeps on the couch
Warning:
If it doesn't make eight-year-olds cry and curse in three languages, you've failed.
FIFTH TEACHING: The Transformation Ritual
Every viewing must contain all four states. This is not optional.
The Progression:
STAGE ONE - Mystical Recognition Light candles. Read from actual Torah. Let golden letters dance.
Believe everything Savta says about the Shekhinah.
STAGE TWO - Crack Awareness Notice Savta calling you by dead cousin's name. Hear parents fighting.
Fail to pronounce "Vayikra" without spitting.
STAGE THREE - The Shattering Realize teacher smells like boiled cabbage and death. Get beaten behind
the mikvah. Understand "petit merdeux" means you.
STAGE FOUR - Anarchist Gnosis Pierce septum with paperclip. Mix languages dans ton cerveau. Draw
over everything holy. Flip off God. Mean it.
The Final Secret:
You must experience all four states simultaneously. The child seeing divine letters IS the child screaming
MERDE. This is the true craft.
SIXTH TEACHING: The Language of Making
The work requires triglossia minimum:
Hebrew: For the base layer (mystical truth)
French: For cursing (emotional truth)
English: For exhaustion (daily truth)
Mix freely. "J'arrive pas to the divine pardes, PUTAIN!"
SEVENTH TEACHING: Materials of Truthful Craft
Acceptable Substitutes:
Gold leaf → Jelly from stepped-on sandwich
Sacred blue → Bruise concealer
Divine light → Slivovitz haze
Mystical experience → Ritalin vision
Holy water → Angry child spit
Required Tools:
Stolen black markers
Inherited Doc Martens
At least one (1) dead grandparent's wisdom
Rage at David Goldberg (or equivalent)
Knowledge that cholent causes spiritual stomachaches
THE ULTIMATE TEACHING
The golden streams are simultaneously:
Divine cascades of creation light
Piss running down metro walls
The distance between what we're taught and what we know
Yesterday's hummus in the sewer of truth
To master this craft, you must:
1. Believe completely in the sacred
2. Recognize it's all merde
3. Continue making it anyway
4. Flip off your own reflection
5. Let the roots spread beneath everything
FINAL WARNING
This manual will make sense only to:
Eight-year-olds who've seen too much
Mystics who've lost faith
Anarchists who still pray
Anyone who's ever tried to hold sunlight and found their hands full of piss
All others will see only:
Pretty colors that hurt to look at too long
Meaningless squiggles
Another failed attempt to make sense of the senseless
Remember: The golden roots keep spreading beneath everything, indifferent to your craft, beautiful and
terrible and absolutely without mercy.
Comme toujours.
ADDENDUM: Emergency Protocols
If during practice you:
Start crying: Normal. Continue.
Forget the Hebrew: Use French curses instead.
See your Savta in the patterns: She's becoming vegetable. This is also craft.
Want to destroy your work: Bon. Destruction is part of creation.
Feel the universe's middle finger: Extend your own. Art is dialogue.
End of Manual
Va chier, young craftworker. May your windows be dirty and your gold true.
