Sixth piece of the May 2 session. Continues the fun-process
operating rules.

Built call-and-response across two metabolization passes.
First pass: Reach whispered the seed about trauma getting
recycled and skewed vision severing us from roots; Clod
responded with one essence-arriving paragraph; Reach
metabolized into the body. Second pass: Clod flagged the
middle clinical-language passage as reading softer than the
figure-language around it; Reach tightened the middle by
dropping emotional or psychological, replacing *human
beings with us, and dropping emotional and often*
from the waste-passed-unconsciously line. Also dropped the
open-question close What's the up spin? and let the piece
end on the truth-line.

Title given by Reach after the body locked. Certain
doing the work of refusing the universal claim. How opens
the piece as analysis without committing to instruction.

New compound vocabulary and figures:

- Mississippi River carrying sediment downstream —
threads back to Piece B (This River Place Does Not
Belong to an Owner) where *the top of the Mississippi
River* was the entry-point. Same river, different
teaching: not the river of body-displacement but the
river of inherited material arriving at the present
foot.
- Bare feet — what the sediment arrives at. Body
part doing the receiving.
- *Stained piece of curved substance / Iris by which
light is focused for the world* — the lens compounded
into two figures, optical material with damage and
biological iris focusing for the whole world. Or
offering both readings without choosing.
- Strangers who never used a belt to raise an issue —
the belt as the figure for inherited physical
discipline, raise an issue punning on raise-a-child
violence. Compresses generational discipline into one
image without naming it.
- Grounds we came from — extends the practice's own
eighteen-grounds architecture into the trauma-piece.
The grounds are what we project onto when the lens
stains.
- Rooms and patios that fed us — outdoor and indoor
domestic space both included, honoring the practice's
grounds-not-rooms architecture.
- Disturbing coatings of the original injury —
coatings doing structural rather than decorative
work. Coatings adhere, build up, layer, can be
stripped or cannot. Paint is decorative; coatings
are structural.

Punctuation moves:

- Ellipsis-spacing throughout.
- Or ... arriving as a structural move inside the
stained piece of curved substance / iris breath.
Same move from Pieces A and B.
- Single-paragraph flow, profound-essence form.
- Truth-line close, no question.

Image threading:

- Mississippi River threading from Piece B (This River
Place Does Not Belong to an Owner) — same river, two
teachings. The river that doesn't belong to an owner
in B is the river that carries inherited sediment in
this piece.
- The grounds we came from threading the practice's
own eighteen-grounds architecture into the body of
the piece.

Companion to: The five river-cluster pieces from the same
May 2 session. This piece moves outside the river-cluster
proper but threads the Mississippi forward and shares the
fun-process operating rules.

How Certain Trauma Gets Recycled

Trauma gets recycled ... the way the Mississippi River carries sediment downstream ... What was put into the water generations before ... arrives at our bare feet ... as if it belonged to now ... and we look at the rest of the world through a lens ... of what our ancestors possibly did to the ones who came before us ... mistaking a way of regarding or analyzing a situation ... as a stained piece of curved substance ... Or ... an iris by which light is focused for the world ...

projecting old wounds onto walls of rooms that never held it ... Onto strangers who never used a belt to raise an issue ... on the grounds we came from ... And the strangest part of re-experiencing the same patterns in new situations ... placing us in environments that trigger past pain ... the unresolved waste is passed on unconsciously ... The more we are involved with it the more we sever ourselves from the source ...

Because the people who held and hugged us ... the rooms and patios that fed us ... the soil that grew the food we ate ... all of it gets redone in the disturbing coatings of the original injury ... Until we cannot see what is actually there ...
