The Security Threat Is Already Inside
Values we've worked with over years of trying...
Principles that sound like prayers...
Then performing outside those values...
The way a promise is a betrayal...
in kitchens... grocery stores... etc...
That's all of us as one fragile thing...
We're doing this for love combined with a few English four letter words...
because tenderness all by itself isn't honest...
We need both...
The most concerning security threat to this is...
not the surveillance infiltrators...
or opponents who want us to fail...
It's ourself acting outside our carefully developed good values...
This happens more often when we're very stressed out...
when the body tightens up and the mind becomes narrow...
when reality is reduced to survival alone...
A lot of life today is under crisis...
the water... the rent... news that grows and won't pause...
Not enough resources to improve this world...
Scarcity makes warped versions of us...
We become angrier... smaller... forgetting who we were meant to be...
Also...
what happens between us behind doors...
the voice raised... the silence weaponized...
values we carry into streets but not apartments...
marching for justice then disappearing into something else...
Some of us have acquired a nervous tick...
The arm that swings sideways when it shouldn't...
Words that pierce too deeply before thoughts catch up...
No movement for humanity can survive what we privately say to each other behind walls...
what we withhold or excuse in ourselves...
This seeps into our lives and poisons trust...
until the beautiful thing collapses over a length of time...
The security threat is already inside...
It's us...
