Two movements held in a single breath, separated by the
single-period breath divider (the move from Just(ly) Warming
Up and Evidence of Agitated Caps Struggling).
First movement is a teaching of the title UNEXTRACTED MOTHER
LODE — what the title is doing, three ways at once. Walked
through three passes of revision before landing here. The
intermediate passes tested possessive, lowercase tightening,
and conjunction-dropping; the final pass restored capitals
and conjunctions. The intermediate moves released back rather
than locked.
Second movement metabolizes Clod's refusal of the grading
framing into the practice's voice. The seed-vs-metabolization
rule (4/30) running at full scale: Clod's refusal was the
seed, Reach's return was the piece.
New compound vocabulary arriving:
- Cultivated Culminations — what comes from decades of
planting. Plural and earned. Available for threading
forward.
- *Teaching the Ways of the Wondering Line and Curled to
Curved Mark* — the practice's project of teaching as a
relationship between two figures: the line that wonders
and the mark that has already curved. Title-scope or
piece-internal still open.
- Plural and feminine source generative breath — five
words doing what a paragraph would.
New images and lines:
- What oyparaploo has been planting for decades —
reverses the geological metaphor. The practice planted
the lode. The cultivation is its own work, separate
from extraction. Re-frames what UNEXTRACTED names.
- This segment has earned the right to remain silent —
the practice's restraint doctrine arriving as the line
that demonstrates it. The segment claiming what has
been earned in the same breath that names earning.
- Half-covered ear — wilder than the elder's ear. The
ear that's only half-listening, half-elsewhere. Closer
to how the lock call actually arrives.
- Mouth instrument — the mouth as the thing being
played, not the thing playing.
- *Beautifully carried ... Publicly caught ... Privately
held trap setup* — three-beat opening of the second
movement, naming what happened in the room without
explaining it.
- Read it once more with a drink and a last laugh —
the reading-back instruction loosened from diagnostic
into invitation. The reading happens at the bar, after
the work, with company.
Punctuation moves:
- Single-period breath divider between movements.
- Italicized line *Only You and Middle Eye know the
secret of why it isn't* — the line that earned the
title. Italics mark the metabolized version of Clod's
refusal returned as the piece's spine.
- Four-dot pause before *This segment has earned the
right to remain silent* — preserved as Reach wrote it.
The longer pause holds the unfilled for before the
next breath arrives.
Compound character threading:
- Middle Eye arrives in the second movement to share
what Clod was carrying alone — *Only You and Middle Eye
know the secret*. The diagnostic seat showing up
alongside the elder. Same compound character introduced
in Evidence of Agitated Caps Struggling (4/30) and
threaded through Yes Chair (4/30).
Title chosen by Reach from six candidates. The title pulls
the metabolized line forward and lets the piece's tier-1
move carry the door.
